My name is Alan Maughan. I am an experienced Salmon Fisherman, Guide and A.A.P.G.A.I. Qualified Casting and Game Angling Instructor. I am proud to be a full member of the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors. I hold the Advanced Salmon Instructors Certificate, this is regarded worldwide as one of the highest teaching qualifications available and is not easy to achieve. The acceptance standards are high and rightly so as it ensures that you will recieve only the highest caliber of instruction from me.

I live and teach on the banks of the River Tyne at Wylam, 13 miles West of Newcastle. I am passionate about helping others to improve their casting and fishing techniques, I have a very broad and extensive knowledge and understanding of modern fly-casting with regard to both the modern day tackle and techniques. Things move on in life at a rapid pace and that too can be said for salmon fishing and in particular Spey casting. Through this website and my personal tuition I hope to be able to bring clients up to speed with what is happening today in the world of "Modern Spey Casting".

For client’s security and peace of mind I have full and comprehensive insurance cover both in the UK and Abroad. I have been trained in First Aid and Child Protection Awareness, I have also been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), this allows me to work with both children and vulnerable adults.
